Title: For Lack of a Snack
Day/Theme: April 27, 2011 "I'll feed you fruit that don't exist"
Series: Original - Navigator
Character/Pairing: May, Yu, Marta, Stuart, Leona (the whole 'cheerful brigade')
"I thought you said you were going to come back with some fruit," Yu
noted upon observing May's empty hands on her return.
A moment of silence was punctuated by Leona rolling the dice. "My druid is so badass," she grinned, enjoying the result.
"Well, I looked all over the galley and the only things fresh were apples. I thought we were going for fresh. ...There're canned mandarin oranges, pineapple, pears, cherries, and blueberries though."
"All the frozen strawberries are gone?" Stuart pouted, "I was thinking about making up some angel's food cake from a mix it turns out I'd saved. ...Without strawberries it just won't be the same."
"Is lack of fresh fruit that anyone likes a big issue on the ship? Do you think this is the sort of thing I should bring up with the captain?" Marta inquired, thumbing through the monster manual.
"I think it falls more under Stuart's area, don't you?" Yu answered, considering the general scheme of ship policy, "It's a 'quality of life' matter."
"That makes it sound so serious," Leona shook her head, "Yu, it's your roll."
"So, does anyone want anything out of that? Or are we done?" May scanned the faces of her assembled colleagues, waiting to see if she could sit down and yet or if she would be asked to tromp back into the kitchen.
"It's okay, May. If anyone wants a snack they should get it themselves. You made the effort," Marta reached out and gently tugged her friend's sleeve, urging her to sit down.
"I'll pass," Yu agreed. "I'd rather have something exciting. ...I wonder when was the last time I ate a mango or a papaya?"
"The last time you ate weird fruit on Le'Lingwa, you got really sick I thought," Leona recalled, "Maybe it'd be better if you just stuck to apples and stuff."
"Don't worry, Yu. Someday the horticulturists would breed a safe sort of Lingwa apple just for you!" Stuart declared, smiling.
